Supporting the Elderly in the Community Open Day

Last month we held a very successful open day. A wide variety of professional organisations, charities and voluntary groups attended, and I would like to thank them all for their efforts in bringing such vital and useful information to one platform.

One of the most interesting things is how so often different services do not link up as a joint force to help the elderly and vulnerable.  What became apparent was that in Anglesey when someone has a problem and is looking for help for an elderly relative, they usually contact Age Cymru, which of course makes sense.  They have considerable information and services to point people in the right direction.

However, some of the organisations seem to have been left on the periphery such as Carers Outreach, who support people who are directly looking after their relatives and MacMillian Cancer Support who provide valuable relief for terminal patients. Care fee funding was an interesting question and The Society of later Life Advisors (SOLLA) as well as a legal representative provided us with some very useful information.

As an organisation who continually campaigns to help people remain in their own homes, I felt that it was time we set up a detailed signposting system and so I will be launching an online directory available on our website listing as many of the appropriate services available on the island with testimonials from them and direct links to their websites.

The event itself raised over £100 for charity as well as our donation from our Facebook campaign which will be distributed between Carers Outreach and the Royal Voluntary Service.  Please continue to like and share our posts as every click adds another £1 to the pot!

Join us on the next recruitment days and find out more about becoming one of our Anglesey Home Carers: 28thJune & 26thJuly @ Llanfaelog Village Hall, LL63 5SS.

Campaigning to help people remain living in their own homes

We are a home care agency based in Llanfaelog, Anglesey helping families predominantly on the island of Anglesey and North Wales, although we are nationwide.

Anglesey Home Care is part of the Bunbury Care Agency who is a member of the UKHCA (United Kingdom Home Care Association) and an associate member of SOLLA (Society of Later Life Advisers). SOLLA is the only association in the UK that can provide accredited financial consultants who can advise and assist people with the funding of elderly care.
