In over sixty years of my life, I cannot remember such a spectacular display of joy, thankfulness and pride in our country. The Platinum Jubilee was incredible and such a big reminder of how a nation as small as Great Britain still makes such an impact upon the world today.
I don’t know which day was the best but the end on Sunday with Her Majesty and the immediate working royals (Three future Kings!), not seen for over 100 years, said something to me about the future of the Monarchy and how things will change for the future.
How did the locals celebrate?
Beth Tweddle, our local Olympian, lit a beacon at Beeston Castle. Bell ringers from the Bunbury Church joined in with the rest of the country to mark the start of the Thanksgiving service at St Paul’s. There was a giant BBQ in the centre of the village and street parties in various places around the village. Everything was rounded off with official Jubilee puddings. Sadly, I was away so missed that fun and games but saw everything on the television. It must have given the community a real uplift after the dreadful few years we have all had to endure.
Contemplating the future
Let’s hope we can continue to keep our spirits up and have more positive thoughts. Times are still very difficult with the rising cost of living and it is taking everyone time to re-align after Covid both in their private and their professional lives. Understandably, we are all looking at ways we can change our lives for the better. This can only be a good thing but remember there are those who have no choice; the elderly, vulnerable and those who are struggling to pay their way in life.

I know I say this every month but please, if you used to make a difference to somebody else’s, life before, please come back to what you are so good at and try again. We are there to support you in every way, good day or bad day. As I have said before, our carers are as important to us as our clients and we are a family care agency.
